Describe the type of organization you work for.
We are in new single family home construction and sales. This includes developing the land, and the building of all the homes in our development. We are also responsible for the sale of each new home while working with the purchaser to meet their needs.

Describe your job role and responsibilities.
I am responsible for the land development to install a new home residential community on a particular piece of land. This includes land clearance, grading, electric, plumbing, streets and the permits to do so along with the correct zoning. We then sell each home to a purchaser desiring a new home from among 30 house plans we offer. We will do some modification on those plans if so desired.

I receive two weeks vacation, one week of sick time, paid cell phone and gasoline.

A day in the life of…

Please describe a typical workday for you in your current job:

5am to 6am
6am to 7am
7am to 8am meet with contractors on job to make sure each has their materials and appropriate crews on the site for their schedule for the day, give all contractors their weekly schedule
8am to 9am contact all contractors which were not at the 7:30 am meeting, order materials for the week
9am to 10am get permits needed for the survey and any needed by the plumbers and electricians. This means a trip to the local court house
10am to 11am Back at 11:30am. Start to walk each home under construction to see progress and make notes for each contractor on what needs to be corrected to give them at 3:00 meeting today
11am to 12pm continue to walk homes from the previous hour, get paperwork ready to give each contractor.
12pm to 1pm lunch in truck while making phone calls for supplies and to check in at the office
1pm to 2pm go over all paperwork and detail all floor plans, open the office to meet with prospects, make copies of all blueprints for the sub contractors
2pm to 3pm stay in office, returning phone calls, checking on supplies again for the week, meet with customer wanting new home
3pm to 4pm late for 3pm meeting with contractors due to meeting with prospective home owners, meeting with contractors at 3:30 to review what needs correcting in each home and what is expected dates for the next month and go over any closings we might have coming up
4pm to 5pm 4:30 to 6pm walk home for pre walk conference tomorrow with new homeowner, make sure subs got done what they were supposed to today, makes notes of things I see which need correcting for walk tomorrow so look prepared for the new homeowner
5pm to 6pm do a drive thru property to make sure all windows are closed for storms due in tonight, close office and head out, make calls on way home for any deliveries tomorrow
