Describe the type of organization you work for.
Its a pretty large corporation that has switch hands to father and son to business partners. It is spread mostly over Central Florida providing Dental services to most with wide variety of insurances or no insurance.

Describe your job role and responsibilities.
Assist the Dr., Provide patient with a comfortable experience, set up and break down operatories and sterilize instruments, make models, bleasching trays, same day custom temporaries for crowns, assist with child prophys and sealants

1 week PTO, no insurance but a Medical Reimbursement up to 120 every 3 months

A day in the life of…

Please describe a typical workday for you in your current job:

5am to 6am
6am to 7am
7am to 8am Beginning of morning. Turn on lights and computers. Log into chart for the day and set up rooms accordingly. Bring back patient and call in the Dentist.
8am to 9am Set up additional rooms for patients and get a patient back.Get back to patients and find other assistants to see what and where we each need to go.
9am to 10am If more patient charts break down previous rooms and set up for next patients. Let Dentist know their ready and get instruments cleaned and in autoclave.

10am to 11am Get set to get a next round of patients back. Set up rooms, instrument packs, etc. and ask Dentist what patient in what order to see them and catch up.
11am to 12pm We dont take lunch breaks as we tend to tag team. Once one asistant eats other assistant overs and after we switch. Then we take bnext patient back. Patients come first.
12pm to 1pm Clean up rooms reset and continue to check the schedule and take charts back and set to the type of procedure.
1pm to 2pm Last patients of the day to get ready for and start to clean up the lab and the rooms that are vacant. Take patients that show to the room set up and assist with the dentist. Break down the room after the completion.
2pm to 3pm End of day procedures include but not limited to: take out trash, clean down chairs and set up areas, wipe all surface and suction hoses, take instruments out of autoclave and keep in bins in lab.

No. I am unhappy with the enviroment at the office and going to try other things.

What are your current career goals?
To go back to school and BE a Dental Hygienist. My future looks brighter if I was to go and continue my education.
