Keep the front office running at 100%. Guest satisfaction is the number one goal. Also work with other departments to ensure guest services are running at full capacity. Hiring and coordination of desk clerks, night audit, and bellman.

For the most part, in this industry you can not be prepared for everything. New situations arise daily, however I empowered with the ability to resolve any situation as I feel needed without worrying about upsetting upper management

Yes, learn from previous managers, also cross train with other department heads to get a better working knowledge of the entire scope of operations. We also have a full training checklist now to help guide new associates.

What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours?
People skills are a must, the ability to communicate is a must. One must not be easily upset, guests can get rather irrate, but its not personal, however we are here to ensure the guests 100% satisfaction. Being familiar with computers is very important too. The main skill is being self-sufficient and having the ability to follow up.

To be outgoing and people oriented.

Yes, because within a few years I plan on being a general manager at a resort.

The hospitality industry can get a bad rap at times, however once you are in it, it is very addictive and fufilling. I would recommend it to anyone.
