Brightbulb Design is a small firm that specializes in logo and web design for businesses of all size. Every company needs an eye-catching logo and innovative website. We work directly with the client to create the marketing tools that will boost their business.
Describe your job role and responsibilities.
Consult with client to determine needs and creative wants of the product; Design product using top industry software; Publish and maintain product; If necessary, train client to maintain product.

Please describe a typical workday for you in your current job:
5am to 6am | |
6am to 7am | |
7am to 8am | Get kids ready and off to school. |
8am to 9am | Research clients industry and their competitors to get an idea for normal marketing tactics and logos used. The internet is the best way to do this. Sometimes if it is a specific product I will ask for a sample or go out and find one in a store and check it out. |
9am to 10am | Sketch logo ideas on paper. I will sketch about 7-10 different ideas. |
10am to 11am | Create rough drafts of the five best logo ideas on my computer using Adobe Creative Suite and a Bamboo drawing pad. |
11am to 12pm | Still creating rough drafts of the five best logo ideas… |
12pm to 1pm | Lunchtime. |
1pm to 2pm | Finish logo idea rough drafts and email to client for them to pick their favorite or give me suggestions on what else they’d like to change/see in the logo. |
2pm to 3pm | Have heard back from client and am working on a proof copy of the logo. |
3pm to 4pm | Work with client on final changes over the phone and edit as I’m speaking with them. Email final proof over to client. |
4pm to 5pm | Once final proof is approved I will send the client the whole design file. With that, they can put it on any material necessary. |
5pm to 6pm | Done for the day! |

I trained myself on the software and used internet tutorials. I did take some college classes for a few of the programs and previously had completed a Bachelors in Graphic Design.

This job is all about networking. You must be constantly marketing yourself, your company, and your talents. A lot of the new social networking sites are great for this and there are quite a few industry-specific networking sites as well.
What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours?
Organizational skills to prioritize projects to meet deadlines. Technical skills– This job is almost 100% computer based.
Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?
Yes. The software is not easy and even basic design concepts need to be learned to be successful.
