Marketing is the backbone of a business. For a company, brand, or product to achieve true success, it must be marketed correctly to the proper target audience. While chief marketing officers and marketing managers are often in charge of developing the overall strategy, marketing assistants are typically the ones who implement the campaigns.

The role of a marketing assistant can be diverse, as their main purpose is to support the overall marketing operations of a company. Marketing assistants will often tackle projects that involve a lot of data, such as consumer ratings reports, sales numbers, competitor details, and trend reports. Additionally, they are frequently involved in the preparation for various presentations and reports. This could include creating graphs and charts, putting together a competitor analysis, or assembling current statistics.

Because of the diversity involved with this position, there are several skills and qualifications that can be important for marketing assistants to have. Some of the general qualifications for a successful marketing assistant would include: organization, verbal and written communication, basic math skills, data entry skills, and reporting skills.
