Overview

The role of clergy members is to lead worship services for members of their chosen religion. They are also in charge of handling other spiritual events that are associated with the beliefs and practices of their congregation, such a funerals or weddings. Additionally, clergy members provide spiritual guidance for anyone seeking such assistance and help guide people during significant life events.

Religion plays a large role in the lives of many individuals, so members of the clergy are widely respected. It is an honorable career to pursue, but it is also one that comes with great responsibility and expectations. Regardless of the religious denomination that a clergy member practices and leads, individuals of this same faith hope to see someone in this position that they can truly look up to and depend on.

Becoming a clergy member can take a different path for various religions, but many candidates often have undergraduate and graduate degrees. After this point, the specific training that they complete will depend on the religious organization.
