About Healthcare Careers

The healthcare industry, or sometimes called the medical industry, is responsible for providing curative, preventive, rehabilitative or palliative care to patients. It is divided into many sub-sectors and has a vast number of opportunities for people with different skills, interests and education levels. The healthcare industry is divided into medicine, chiropractic, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, allied health and other care providers. Typical careers include a physician, nurse, midwife or physical therapist.

Employment in the healthcare industry is growing much faster than most other industries. This is due to the aging population creating a demand for the treatment, education and prevention of chronic diseases, such as diabetes or heart diseases. The growing population also creates a demand for all types of healthcare professionals to help look after everyone, from the moment they are born to the moment they die.

Regardless of which healthcare sector you enter, you are guaranteed to have a rewarding career. Every job in this industry is focused on helping people, saving lives or improving the quality of someone’s life. Without the millions of healthcare workers in society, we would not be thriving the way we are today.
