I work for a hospital, where i am training to be a pathologist. The hospital is a community hospital, where you can do residency training in variety of medical fields like medicine,pathology, surgery etc.

We in the Pathology department receive samples from patients for investigation about whats wrong with them. We process the samples,analyze the data and then inform the physician about the results.

We have to constantly interact with colleagues as well as nurses and lab technicians. I love this interaction. It keeps me cheerful and grounded. Sometimes you end up with someone having a bad hair day, but well aint that common everywhere.

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

you will have to join medical school after finishing undergrad and when you are done with that, you join residency in a specialized field like pathology.

You need social skills to interact with the patients, need organization skill s to handle the heavy work load everyday, and also the technical ability and smartness to understand and analyze the data.

yes, strongly.

Enjoy your job. Its going to be a huge part of your life.
