The company is a family owned bakery that makes from scratch cakes, pies, pastries, cookies and breads. We have about 25 employees.

yes, i like it very much because i enjoy talking to people and making people smile! I think the only thing I really don't like about my job is disgruntled customers. We don't get them very often but man when we do they can be so rude over a cake, I mean its CAKE people don't get crazy over it!

Its a bakery adn the thing I don't like about it is its so hot! But I do love how it always smells so good and its very rewarding to please a customer with a good job.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

Try taking a food service course at your local vo tech school or try it out at your local grocery bakery. I was lucky, I started at my local Price Chopper grocery store, then 6 months later my sister opened her own bakery and she is the one who taught me EVERYTHING.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

People skills, you have to be able to work with the public. Artistic abilities, you have to be able to have a vision of what you want your end result to be...colors, style, theme ect.

  Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

if you don't have food service/pastry training then you need on the job training.

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

Read all the latest wilton books and magazines to do with pastry and decorating. Now there is also quite a few cake decorating shows on t.v. on The Food Network as well that you can get really neat ideas from.
