yes, considering I have summers off

2. Work environment!

Does your job entail you working with others on a daily basis? Is this something you like/dislike about your job? Explain

Yes, I must work with many different teaching styles and personalities. Most of which, I like. Many times I have to help teach a lesson in the way the teacher wants it taught and occasionally I don't agree with methods.

Yes

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

The only way to have job security in a school with all the constant budget cuts is to be bilingual. Performance has less to do with being needed the following school year because of the senority and union regulations. I would also only recommend this field to "natural" teachers. Some have it, some don't.

What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

In order to be successful in this field, I would suggest strong computer skills, flexibility, and organizational skills. It would also be helpful if you had the personality that doesn't easily "rattle". Many times this job requires money out of your pocket to do the things you really want to do with the kids. There really isn't enough time in the day to plan for what you want to do and you will do better if some of that takes place at home.

Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

As of No Child Left Behind, one must have 60 hours of college.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

See above. Be flexible. You have many "bosses".
