I work in an open office with four other people. I like working with students, but I wish I had my own private office space. It's very intrusive sometimes.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours? |
|
If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?
get more education than I have. *usually* people in my position have a master's degree in counseling and are therefore compensated for such. I do not have a master's degree, but perform the same duties and tasks that someone with that degree would do but for far less money.

People skills, listening skills, analytical skills, patience, empathy, joy of learning.

One should have a master's in counseling, however having an inate love of students and learning are integral.

Talk to others in your field, colleagues, to see what they are doing and what's working, what's the latest trends, etc.
