On my current projects, I manage deferred revenue for acquisitions. Basically, it's bringing in the acquired company's deferred revenue into our accounting and finance systems.

This assignment is a work-at-home situation and requires many phone calls / e-mails and instant messaging with others world-wide on a daily basis. I really like working this way, but I would also like to meet them in person as well.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

Go to college and not only learn from your professors who are more than likely consultants in the "real IT world" but you need to enjoy it. You have to be able to speak clearly and concisely ... Always be able to back up what you say!

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

Great organisation skills and the ability to connect with people helps when a difficult situation arises. Technical skills are very useful and come in handy when you are at an entry-level point of your career. You can always fall back on it when you move into a Project Management position or higher.

Yes.

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

Be enthusiastic and open to your manager(s) / team leads / peers. That really helps!
