My organization is a non-profit employers association and consulting firm. It is about 100 people large.

I help members with their requests for research on HR issues. I send them copies of laws, sample policies, memos, etc.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

I would recommend that they take a couple of Human Resources classes and try to incorporate any areas of HR into their current job so that they have just a little experience.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

They should have social skills to deal with members and keep them happy. They should also have research skills, as many of the requests they will get take lots of time to find.

  Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

Yes, I think that someone should have either a college degree or some equivalent training.

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

It's a great job to get your feet wet with HR. You will learn a lot that you can then take to your next job.
