I work in a cubicle in our office. I like that I can have open communication with others in the office, but I dislike that when I am concentrating on a design, others can come up to my desk and break my concentration with questions or conversation.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours? |

If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?
Obtain a degree or take classes in AutoCAD to get the basic design skills, take a electrical class.

skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a
position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social
skills, organization skills, technical skills)
Must be organized to keep up with each project, and able to field both questions from co-workers and supervisors about the status of each job. Also, must have at least the basic AutoCAD design skills, preferably 1 to 2 years experience to complete each project in a timely manner.

Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?
Yes, at least one AutoCAD class to get the basics down. And some electrical knowledge.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?
We have several basic electrical training manuals here to read through and answer questions. Also, sit down at the computer and do some hands-on training with AutoCAD to build your skill level.
