A University degree in early childhood education is a good start.

You must like working with small children and remember they can be difficult at times and their parents can be even more difficult. You must be easy going, but vigilent because you are responsible for the safety of the children. You must be organized and creative in order to devise an interesting program.

Absolutely

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?
Have a lot of patience, the pay is low, but the job is personally rewarding. Pick a school with a good director who is an advocate for her teachers.
