I help the doctors with exams and also give out meds to the animals who need it. I also work with the owners to make them feel as relaxed as they can be.

I do know that I could be making more at other hospitals but I love my job and co workers and choose to stay.

I work very closely with others every day,.other co workers and pet owners. I dont mind at all dealing with people..in fact I enjoy it.

I work in a vet hospital that is connected to a shelter..its a great set up that

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

I would say they would have to get a two year degree in the field because even though some doctors will hire a vet tech without a license you make much more money with one and you also get better jobs too.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

You have to LOVE animals first of all...and you also have to have to have good math skills because of medicine dosing and other things..also you have to have people skills because you are not only working with other staff but with the onwers of the pets they bring in.

  Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

Yes...you need a two year degree

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

Just watch and see how among the staff are good workers and follow their lead..dont be afraid to ask questions and never, ever stop learning.
