2. Work environment!

I converse through email to the head copywriter and creative director who send me jobs. I enjoy this as I communicate better through writing (of course).

I work from home on a desktop computer (as laptops aren't as good to type on for long periods, I feel). I like working from home because I can take care of my daughter as well, and work any hours which are convenient as long as I meet my deadlines. I do miss working in an office!

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

I would recommend trying to get a position or internship in an agency, build a portfolio, and then post ads and appeal to other agencies as a freelancer.

What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

You have to be quick with turnaround. You may have a very tight deadline and must be flexible and be able to work all hours to get the job done. Also the ability to write for an audience rather than yourself.

Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

Yes...I have a degree in English with a writing and editing focus and I feel this has helped tremendously.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

Don't feel discouraged if your assignments are not what you would normally write about. Also don't get too attached to your work! Just have fun with it and type your heart out!
