We are a company with 9 employees. We provide childcare services and tutoring services for our area.

As owner, my duties are overlooking employees and make sure the children are well cared for. The needs are met of the children, employees, and the business duties in general.

It certainly does. I love working with people, especially children and other employees that love what we do. It is a pleasant work environment and it makes us also feel like we are doing something worthwhile in the community.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

Start small, start in-home if you have one and get all the permits you need. If you don't have a location to work out of, then go to your local child care center and ask if they need help.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

You have to love working with children and love education. You have to have a patient, pleasant personality.

  Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

not necessarily, but earning a college degree in education is helpful. Prior experience and love of the job is imperitive.

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

You must be flexible and patient. It's not as easy as it looks. If you enjoy children and can create a relaxed atmosphere that is condusive to a good environment for children to learn and enjoy the time they are with you, you may be right for this position.
