There are a variety of job descriptions and specializations within the Army. Many of the positions have civilian equivalents such as doctor, lawyer, logistician, mechanic, and communications specialist (IT expert). Employment requires a maintained level of physical fitness, expertise in your field, and high morale character.

As the Deputy Operations Officer for a multi-disciplined intelligence facility I am responsible for numerous planning and organizing duties. I schedule and conduct daily and weekly organizational meetings with the purpose of disseminating information and coordinating efforts. I act as the primary point of contact for outside organizations including coordinating VIP visits, briefings, and projects. Additionally, I accurately collect performance information from subordinate sections and compile it in a professional presentation for senior officers.

On a daily basis I conduct conferences to discuss progress on projects and to collect and disseminate information. In addition to conferences, I interact with others over email and the phone. Occasionally, this will involve video chats or video teleconferences with people located throughout the world. I enjoy doing this because collaborating with people is an efficient way to get things accomplished. Not only to get more input to make decisions, but I also get to hear different points of view that may cause me to alter my plans.

On a daily basis I poll my peers for ideas and opinions in order to fully understand problems and to get insight on solutions. I collaborate with my supervisors to ensure that my plans are fulfilling their expectations. It is a good idea to run your ideas by your supervisor as you work on a project to ensure that you are following their guidance and moving in the right direction. That way you can make corrections using additional guidance prior to completing the project.
