I work for a major university located in Southern California. We have a medical center attached to our Medical School. We employ approximately 12,000 staff and 1,000 faculty.

I am an employment consultant for staff positions through out the campus and medical center. I am responsible for recruiting efforts, hiring processes, and employment concerns.

I work with hiring managers within the organization, employees within the organization, and applicants from outside the organization. I like working with people.

I work with managers of hiring departments to help with the process of them bringing on new employees. Our team has four employment consultants. We support separate departments, but we work very closely together.

Usually this type of position would require a degree in Human Resources or a supporting field and about two years of experience.

Recruiting agencies are a great place to get trained on hard core recruiting, however, not a great place to get training on overall recruiting practice.
