I am currently self employed- self contractor. I have a partner, and we work out of our homes, online and mostly mobile to customers residence or business. We mainly repair and upgrade computers, we also offer home/small business networking setup, custom pc builds, and tutoring.

Diagnose and repair network configuration, software and hardware problems on home or small business computers/laptops. I also consult consumers on building pc's customized for their needs.

Get your name out there. Don't give appointment times that you can't keep, and have pride in your work and the name you leave on your work.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

You need to have a very technical, logical view. You should have at least A+ certification and a couple years help desk for broadband or computer support helps alot.
