3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

Well, you'd definitely need to get your bachelor's degree in Marketing, English, or a similar field. I would recommend applying for an entry-level marketing coordinator position and plan on working up from there. Experience really counts. Also, in my job, I work with design and web programs daily (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, DreamWeaver), so you need to get to know Adobe products as much as possible.

What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

Organizational/project management skills are a must. You must be able to multi-task because you will work on several projects at once. You must be able to interact comfortably with other departments. Computer skills are critical. Know your Microsoft and Adobe products!

Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

I think it's necessary to at least be working on your bachelor's degree, and to take computer software classes.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

Listen to your supervisor - most want you to succeed and have valuable advice to offer. After all, they have been successful in the field, so they did something right!
