Independent work ethic. You must have the drive to leave the house at 8 in the morning and not return until after 6. You must enjoy the thrill of the hunt in opening new accounts. You must be self confident, organized and enjoy helping people. A background in sales and food service provide the best mix of skills needed to be a marketing associate.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?
Make a call schedule and stick to it. Once you have called on a customer the same day and time for a few months to a year they will order from you. Ask lots of questions about your prospects business.
