Assist applicants in establishing and clarifying educational, career and personal development goals. Develop and present career and educational presentations. Provide academic, personal, and career counseling for international students. Serve as International Student Association Advisor and maintain budget. Responsible for all immigration compliance for F-1 International students at the College. Take care of all international students from inquiry through graduation or transfer.

This job requires that I work with the entire Admissions department and other enrollment counselors very closely. I enjoy these relationships. We often give campus presentations and College Tours as a team.

I have an office located in the Admissions Office on the college campus. The Admissions Office has a nice professional working environment. Unfortunately, my office has no windows.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours? |
|
If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?
The position is for someone who has a background in education. Living and working overseas for several years is also probably neccesary experience for working directly with International students. A masters degree is a minimum requirement.

skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a
position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social
skills, organization skills, technical skills)
Important skills include: being highly organized, being able to multi-task, love for international people and cultures, and having a positive attitude.

Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?
Definitely a bachelors degree and probably some teaching experience. A Master's Degree in Eduction is also probably needed for success.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?
You have to have a love for education and for helping people to achieve their goals. You have to be an educator but also a counselor and salesman at the same time.
