3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours? |
If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?
Be ready to work to get anywhere. You can't come into the industry and make hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you want to do well, it takes a lot of time, energy and dedication to get there. Talk to other good Realtors and find out what a typical week looks like for them.
What
skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a
position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social
skills, organization skills, technical skills)
They should have the ability to work independantly and be a super self-starter. Laziness and lack of motivation do NOT equal success in this business or any other. The ability to relate to all kinds of people is a valuable attribute.
Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?
There is state required education for this, but college and life experience help significantly.
What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?
Have a padded savings account for the times that business is more slow. You can have dry spells for months at a time with no income. You need to be ready to combat those times. Budgeting is a must.
