The field I currently work in is a private indusrty. It contains about 200 plus employees. Our company sells all sorts of electronic devices from mircowaves to computer components.

My job is to make sure all the hot items are put out on the floor, these are items with the highest GP. Every Tuesday, I have a talk with three of the department supervisors and decide what is best for the department.

Yes, on a daily basis I give my employee different task. I have to tell them where to put the hot sale items where the customers can see. I really like to talk them, most of them are friendly and never talk back to me and sometimes we have a little laugh.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

I would advise them to have leadership skills, that one must be a leader. Being a department manager takes a lot of responsiblities and you must make the best decisions about two times a week.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

the most important skill someone must have to work at my position is to have good social skills and decision making skills. you have to talk to supervisors constently to get their input and make decisions that are not only good for the department but also good for the company.

  Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

Definitely experience and training will help out

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

My only advice for anyone working in my field is you got to have responibility and put up with customers who are constently yelling at you. Always be friendly and smile so you can give customers a better shopping experience and also make your day go by much easier.
