3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

Getting into a county position is very difficult as an outsider. For me, I found the best way to get "into" a job was to apply as a temporary hire so they can see how well you work. It also required some training, education and you must be patient - getting a county job takes months to gothrough the process; application, interview, testing, selection, etc... If you need a job right now, don't count on it.

What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

You must be a real people person, you must be consciencious, ethical, professional, polite, courteous, etc.. You must possess a high level of computer skills, have the ability to research and seek out new resources using the internet. You musthave the ability to be organized and creative enough to find what you want and for free.

Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

Yes, I do. I do suppose someone who is a real go-getter could do this, but only because it really does not require a BS or other hight degree.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

Listen, Listen, Listen. My clients have a rough road to follow, they need to know someone cares. Listen to them because without hearing what they really need you can't help them. Sometimes they don't know what they need so it will be up to you to know these things and know how toget it.
