3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

I would recommend that he/she get first aid and CPR training because it is required in this job field. Also, I recommend that he/she ask parents about where they take their children and see if that place is hiring if he/she is having trouble finding job openings. I would say that being yourself is a big thing because the children that he/she would be teaching would know right away what kind of person he/she is.

What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

As for the skills, the person should love to be with children, first of all, because he/she is going to be with a class for 8+ hours. The person should be fairly outgoing, or at least be willing to be sociable with co-workers. The person should be organized enough to at least know where things are and be able to keep a classroom clean. As for technical skills, I do not think there are any that are needed besides being able to fix some broken toys/books.

Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

I feel like the individual needs to have a lot of experience working and taking care of children in order to be successful.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

My advice would be to go out there and get as much experience working with children as you can because the students will be able to tell if the person is not experienced. My other piece of advice would be to have patience because some students will really push your buttons, and never take out your anger on the student.
