Meeting with the schools librarian, volunteers and teachers. Sales of our product and if possible sales of supplemental products. Presentations to large groups on how to best market our products. Visit schools on event day. Territory consists of all of Oregon and SW Washington - approximately 300 public schools. I only work when school is in session, summers off.

I spend most of my day setting my own schedule. My job requires a lot of self motivation, but I love that. I'm also meeting with customers so I do have interaction.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours? |
|
If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?
Do some work in entry level sales, especially business to business sales. Be able to sell the tangible and the intangible. Know yourself and be able to get up in the morning and work even though nobody is watching.

Must be motivated, organized, personable, able to change your personality to the people you meet (within reason), eager to be first.

Most people in my job have a college degree - I don't and am the #1 salesperson company wide. FWIW.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?
Get yourself known however you can. Take in cookies, buy pencils for the entire office, whatever it takes. You want these customers to know you on sight and rely on you so another competitor can't sneak up and take your busines.
