My job is in the computer software, and data entry field.

I am an internet researcher.

The company I work for is a medium size company hiring individuals to work from home conducting internet research and inputting the required information into a search engine. We compile data to build search engines for various clients.

  How long have you been employed in this position?

I have been employed in this field for 2 years and at this position for two months.

  How many hours do you work a week on average?

I work an average of 35 hours a week.

  Please provide a BRIEF description of your duties and responsibilities. (job description)

I am responsible for compiling internet research and inputting it into a data base. Sometimes I am required to input the information directly into a search engine software program.

I am not required to work with others on a daily basis. I am currently working from my home, and do have to stay in contact 2-3 times a a week through skype and email with my supervisors.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

First they would need to gain some experience in internet research and data entry. They would also need to gain some experience working from home to be able to get a position like mine. The jobs they would seek out for experience would generally start as low paying jobs, and could even be some freelance positions.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

To pursue a position like mine especially since I work at home, a person would need strong organizational skills, and an ability to stay on task and set deadlines. Fast typing skills, an ability to multi task, and determination are also needed to perform a position like mine.

  Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

I feel that a certain amount of experience is needed before performing the level of job I do.

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

I would advise them to throughly study all training materials given to them, and to make sure they know exactly what is expected of them before beginning. This will avoid having to do an enormous amount of work over again because of a simple mistake.
