Multi-National Ocean Carrier based in Singapore. 19th largest in the world. Mainly focused on Asia to Europe, Asia to Middle East, and Asia to Oceania trade. Asia to US trade is a new service and this is a new office.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

Do a lot of research and try to meet some people in the industry. There are a lot of functions held within this industry. Experience-wise, try working for a freight forwarder (they are generally low-paying but very willing to train), they are one level below shipping lines but are much easier to get into.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

Social skills plays a big role; so is having good memory and being organized. Basically you're dealing with customers every day, so it is paramount that you leave a good impression and they become return customers.

  Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

Experience counts most, but related education or training certainly helps.

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

Get ready for some long hours (but definitely not as long as lawyers).
