I am self-employed, an independent contractor in the field of Child Advocacy. I began this journey when my now teen child was six years old. She was diagnosed with "mild autism." That opened up a whole new world for me! Before, I had been a Nurse (19 yrs.), and a Real Estate Broker (8 yrs.). In order for me to get the services my daughter needed to advance academically and socially, I had to teach myself the world of Special Education. Now I assist other families, who are just beginning their journey.

Meeting with the child and family, drafting an action plan, making suggestions as far as education and individual education plans tailored to each child's needs. I do accompany families to meetings at school if they feel they need the support. Some do well alone, some need an objective person on the child's team. My duties include research, staying current on special education laws, and providing the families with up to date information so they can make educated decisions regarding their childrens education.
