I work for the local city government. My job is classified under a branch of the local city government, the library system for the city.

I am responsible for ordering materials for my library branch, including books, music CDs, videos and DVDs. I am also responsible for supervising 5 employees. I also do the weekly money count and deposit for my library branch.

To get a position like mine, you are required to have a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Library Science.

A person must have good social skills since they are dealing with the public and good organizational skills to keep everything in the library branch in order.

Yes

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

That the skills you learn while getting the Master's degree are good in theory, but they are not always practical in day to day situations with the public.
