3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours? |
|
If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?
To have a master's degree in library science and specialize in special libraries. Work corporate librarian internships rather than pursuing traditional library work, and emphasize the records management aspect of an MLS degree.

What
skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a
position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social
skills, organization skills, technical skills)
A head for extremely detailed work, since this job requires reconciling a lot of small details. A knack for handling paperwork, since that's the primary job responsibility. A lot of patience, because nobody else cares about the paper trail and it will turn to garbage at many points. The ability to manage your time well, because you will plan and perform your projects.
|

Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?
Yes. This job would be very hard without an MLS degree.
|
|
What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?
Have patience, and be able to do repetitive work without a problem.
