Do you feel you are under/well/over compensated at your current position?

I wish I were paid more but I feel it's fair given my workload.

2. Work environment!

Does your job entail you working with others on a daily basis? Is this something you like/dislike about your job? Explain

I share an office with our two MIS employees but we don't actively work together on projects typically. I attend a meeting each week with the marketing department where we discuss upcoming deadlines and projects for the week. I interact with my friends at work every day, but this is more on a personal level. I work on a separate floor from my boss and I definitely like this-I do projects at my own pace and only have to report to her weekly.

Do you work collaboratively with supervisors/managers?

Yes

Do you work collaboratively with your co-workers?

Yes

Describe your work location (e.g., office, home, theatre, in the field) and what you like/dislike about working in it

Only on a weekly basis, otherwise I am on my own.

Please rank in order of importance from 1-8 (1- most important 8- least important) Assign each number once.

  • 4 Income
  • 3 Work Environment - co-workers
  • 5 Work Environment - supervisors
  • 6 Benefits
  • 1 Hours
  • 7 Level of responsibility

  • 8 Job Title

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

I would say to network and get to know as many people as possible. I got my starting position with this company though a friend of a friend and if I hadn't known him, I never would have ended up here and moved up to where I am.

What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

Definitely you need good organizational skills for my position. Making sure the right and most current information appears in various places (ads, signs, website, etc.) is extremely important. Also like in any job you need patience-sometimes co-workers don't come through when they should and it can be frustrating but you have to get past it.

Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

Not necessarily-I have very little formal training in design (I have a bachelors in social work) and for being self-taught I think I do pretty well.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

Show your responsibility, dependability, and willingness to learn when you first start.
