It is a small company that helps students save money when they go to college. We also help them navigate the application and college selection process. There are only about 5-10 people in our corporate office, but we have several franchises around the country.

I create magazine advertisements, maintain and create our website, and create any kind of marketing materials that we use. I also write articles about college and financial aid for magazines; I write documents for our clients to use; and I write a bimonthly newsletter. I oversee the development and continued use of a database software. Basically I'm responsible for anything creative that comes out of our office.

Yes and no. I work at home about 50% of the time and in our office the other 50%. I love that. I love being able to spend some time with others and working with them on projects. I also love doing most of my work on my own.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours? |

If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?
Develop a portfolio of design work. Try to practice/design lots of different things so you have several examples to show off. Talk to people and network! Consider looking at small businesses, because you get to do a lot of different things.

Creativity, design/artistic ability, self motivation, communication skills, and the necessary design software skills. Someone would also have to be very skilled with computers.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?
Work hard. Be creative. Learn as much as possible from people around you. Learn to communicate! Be confident in yourself and your work, but always be open to constructive criticism and suggestions.
