art/crafts ~ I own a homebased business where I sell my handcrafted wire art (candle/flower holders) locally as well as through the internet.

I have a home based business which is currently in it's fourth year. There are a total of three employees.

  How long have you been employed in this position?

A little over 4 years.

  How many hours do you work a week on average?

Right now I put in about 30-35 hours per week.

  Please provide a BRIEF description of your duties and responsibilities. (job description)

I am master crafter of my wire art. I shop for and maintain supplies for my art. I have the final say in all aspects of my business from production of products to packaging.

The benefit of earning an income while still staying at home to care for my young children.

Other than the lack of employee health benefits I feel quite compensated. It's a blessing to be at home with my children while also earning an income from doing something that brings me a tremendous amount of joy and satisfaction.

I usually work alone when crafting which I love. I sometimes listen to music which often seems to really inspire me.

My business is located at home. I have a home office as well as a craft room for the production of my wire art. I love working from home and feel so fortunate to have a special area just for the production of my art. I can't think of one thing that I dislike about what I do and where I do it.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

Get organized, come up with a plan, make sure it's something they will enjoy. I would recommend that they decide how much time they want to spend working and how much of an income they will need for that amount of time..and then figure out if it's a doable goal.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)
