subcontracted field services for a national vendor for mortgage companies

There are less than 30 employees that work here. I am 1 of 2 that does inside office work for the property inspections department. we do maintenance and inspections on properties that are about to be and have been foreclosed on.

i upload property inspection results to our clients. I also do some monthly accounting clerical work (producing reports). Answer the phones.

i only work with one other person in my department. I love not having a lot of people to answer to.

I work in a home office building. the building is located on the property of the owner, but separate from the actual home. I like it because it is quiet and there aren't people coming in and out.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

they would have to learn to type and keyboard. i would suggest taking an online typing course. they would also have to learn HUD specifications.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

the would have to know how to prioritize because there is little supervision. again typing and keyboarding are key. A background in accounting is helpful for the monthly reports.

  Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?

no because I had no formal education when i started.

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

get a radio. learn to type fast. bring your own lunch.
