I work with several people on a daily basis. Supervisors and other employees. For the most part I like my job. My job is an appointed position by the mayor. Needless to say it can get quite political. Including not being reappointed.

It is an office setting open to the public to come in and ask questions. My office is located on main street in City Hall, and is one of the first offices when you come in the main doors, so I do get alot of people asking where various places are. I like working in this office because I do get to see some of the public.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours? |

If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?
Take College classes in accounting and get a job working for a municipality. Attend municipal treasurers conferences and become certified. Attend institude training that specializes in treasury management.

skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a
position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social
skills, organization skills, technical skills)
Computer skills is a must. Just about everything is done online and on a computer program now days. Organizational skill is a plus on any job. This helps your day go by smoothly with less chaos.

Do you feel that you need a certain level of education or training to be successful in your job?
I believe that on the job training is more important than education. All treasurer's jobs are not the same, my job can be totally different then a treasurer in another city.

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?
Attend the siminars that are designed for treasury management the information is very valuable. Listen and learn from your co-workers, they can be a huge asset to your position. Don't be afraid to try new things. We are adding new programs and certifying policies quite frequently.
