Yes, I must work closely with other teachers to plan lessons to effective meet student needs. I enjoy this aspect of my job although it can be challenging at times. Usually if a disagreement occurs, we are able to compromise.

School building: various classrooms, playground, special areas such as art, music & phy. ed. I am fortunate to work in a relatively new building. My only complaints are no windows in the room I spend most of my day in and the air conditioning is too cold.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours? |

If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?
College degree is required. Be sure to volunteer in special education classrooms prior to or early in your coursework to make sure this is something you really want to get into.

skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a
position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social
skills, organization skills, technical skills)
Organization-key in maintaining records and doing paperwork involved in the job. Interpersonal communication skills: Must be able to communicate and relate to/develop a rapport with students and adult co-workers. Must have up-to-date technology skills to access adaptive equipment students use.

most definitely a college degree and then continued education to keep skills up-to-date

What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?
Be sure you research the career and really know what you are getting into. Special education is a field known for high turnover rates due to the stress of the job.
