I work for various doctor's offices. The doctor's that I work for practice internal medicine.

I perform an ultrasound examination. I write a report on my findings.

2. Work environment!

  Does your job entail you working with others on a daily basis? Is this something you like/dislike about your job? Explain

I basically work alone. I perform an exam in my own private room. I do come in contact with people who sign in the patients that I am going to see. I like this, because they prepare the charts of the patient I will see and make my job easier. I also come in contact with patients on a daily basis. I like this because I am given the opportunity to help find out what is wrong with them, and it is challanging and rewarding.

My work location is an office. I like it because I have my own room to work in with my own equipment.

3. How should someone new to the workforce get a J-O-B like yours?

  If someone wanted to go about getting a job similar to yours, what would you recommend for him or her to do?

Attend a school or a program that teaches ultrasound. Become registered in ultrasound by taking the test given by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.

  What skills do you think a person should have if they want to pursue a position like yours? Please be specific and explain why (e.g., social skills, organization skills, technical skills)

Technical skills in perfoming the ultrasound exam. Social skill in dealing with patients. Organizational skills in keeping your work organized.

  What advice would you give to someone who was about to start work in your position/ line of work?

There are different ways to get paid in my field. You can get paid by the hour or you can get paid per patient. See which best suits your needs. If you don't need insurance, then you will make more money getting paid per patient.
